The top Non-commissioned Officers in the Army, TRADOC, CAC and the Mission Command Center of Excellence fielded questions and concerns directly from the field during the outbrief of the first-ever NCO Solarium Friday in Marshall Auditorium of the Mission Command Center of Excellence. The Non-commissioned Officer Solarium 2015, a Sergeant Major of the Army initiative, is a significant effort to inform and shape the future direction of the U.S. Army. This effort brings together 84 sergeants first class and master sergeants, including first sergeants, to U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command's Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, from April 29 to May 1, 2015. Through this initiative, these NCOs will identify issues that will have an impact on the Army into the foreseeable future and provide recommendations to the SMA. Pictured are (L-R): Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Senators from the Kansas State Legislature spent a day at Fort Leavenworth discussing the Combined Arms Center, Human Dimension, Army University, and Unified School District 207. The group (sitting left) Senator Susan Wagle, President of the Kansas Senate; (front row left to right) Senator Elaine Bowers; Mrs Francie Fitzgerald; Senator Caryn Tyson; and Mrs Pam Wilborn; (sitting right) Mr Ryan Gilliland, Chief of Staff for the President of the Kansas Senate; (Back row left to right) Senator Steve Fitzgerald; Senator Tom Arpke; Mr Kirby Brown, Deputy to the Commanding General; Senator Tom Arpke; Senator Greg Smith; and Senator Rick Wilborn. During his visit to the Leavenworth area on 27 April, Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS) spent time with COL Geoffrey Catlett to discuss the Army's Sexual Harassment/Abuse Response and Prevention (SHARP) program. Catlett is the Director for the SHARP Academy and had the opportunity to explain how the Army is combatting the unacceptable behavior through the use of Victim Advocates, and Sexual Assault Response Coordinators, who are trained at his school. The VAs and SARCs attend a seven week course then return to their units or organizations to manage the program and assist Soldiers or Department of the Army Civilians.

Billie Jo Draper, Pittsburg State University Alumni Association president, left, and, Pittsburg State University President Steve Scott, far right, present the 2015 PSU Meritorious Achievement Award to Kirby R. Brown, Apr. 10. The Pittsburg State University Alumni Association established the Meritorious Achievement Award in 1958 and it is the highest award based on career achievement presented by the Alumni Association. Former Chief of Staff of the United States Army Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, addressed key leaders of the Combined Arms Center at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial 9 April as part of a CAC offsite and teambuilding event. Sullivan, the current President and Chief Operating Officer of the Association of the United States Army discussed the importance of Fort Leavenworth in training and educating the leaders who were key to Victory in WW1 and have remained vitally important in every US conflict since.

Combined Arms Center Commanding General Lt. Gen. Robert B. Brown (left) presents an Assumption of Responsibility certificate to Brig. Gen. Mark J. O’Neil, the new deputy commanding general of the Combined Arms Center - Training. Brown hosted the ceremony at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., on March 27. Brown welcomed O’Neil to the CAC team, saying O’Neil is a “first-round draft choice and we’re lucky to have him.” O’Neil said it was an honor to be the CAC-T deputy commanding general. CAC-T manages training support, training development and Combat Training Center programs to help the Army prepare versatile units and develop innovative leaders.
