Billie Jo Draper, Pittsburg State University Alumni Association president, left, and, Pittsburg State University President Steve Scott, far right, present the 2015 PSU Meritorious Achievement Award to Kirby R. Brown, Apr. 10. The Pittsburg State University Alumni Association established the Meritorious Achievement Award in 1958 and it is the highest award based on career achievement presented by the Alumni Association. Candidates must have demonstrated substantial professional growth and advancement over an extended period of time.

Former Chief of Staff of the United States Army Gen. Gordon R. Sullivan, addressed key leaders of the Combined Arms Center at the National World War I Museum at Liberty Memorial 9 April as part of a CAC offsite and teambuilding event. Sullivan, the current President and Chief Operating Officer of the Association of the United States Army discussed the importance of Fort Leavenworth in training and educating the leaders who were key to Victory in WW1 and have remained vitally important in every US conflict since.

Combined Arms Center Commanding General Lt. Gen. Robert B. Brown (left) presents an Assumption of Responsibility certificate to Brig. Gen. Mark J. O’Neil, the new deputy commanding general of the Combined Arms Center - Training. Brown hosted the ceremony at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., on March 27. Brown welcomed O’Neil to the CAC team, saying O’Neil is a “first-round draft choice and we’re lucky to have him.” O’Neil said it was an honor to be the CAC-T deputy commanding general. CAC-T manages training support, training development and Combat Training Center programs to help the Army prepare versatile units and develop innovative leaders.

Maj. Thomas Root, (Center of picture) a student of the Command and General Staff Officers Course, briefed the Commanders of TRADOC, (Gen. David G. Perkins); CAC (Lt. Gen. Robert B. Brown); and the Mission Command Center of Excellence (Brig Gen. Willard M. Burleson III) on the Army Operating Concept during the first Majors Colloquium held at Fort Leavenworth's Lewis and Clark Center. The 84 Army Majors at the Colloquium were provided the opportunity to recommend solutions to some of the Army's most difficult challenges directly to Army Senior Leaders. The key topics discussed included: training, Mission Command, talent management, diversity, education, and the Army Operating Concept. The briefing was the culmination of a five-month process.

Gen. David G. Perkins, Commander of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, addresses 300 ROTC and Military Academy Cadets from around the country as part of the George C. Marshall Awards and Leadership Forum at Fort Leavenworth. The two-day event is an opportunity for the Army to recognize the outstanding Cadets of the year and gives them the opportunity to hear from some of the Army's top leadership. 2015 marks the first year that this event is hosted at Fort Leavenworth. In addition to awards Cadets will participate in roundtable discussions, a series of plenary sessions, and engagements by some of the Army’s top leadership. The purpose of the event is to inspire future army leaders to embody the timeless values of selfless service, character, ethics, leadership and citizenship of Gen. George C. Marshall.

The 31 Students of the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Baseline Certification Course sing the Army song at the conclusion of their graduation ceremony March 6, in Grant Auditorium of the Combined Arms Center headquarters building on Fort Leavenworth. Mr. Kirby Brown, Deputy to the Commanding General of the Combined Arms Center, officiated the event and gave a keynote address. During the address, Mr. Brown told the students, “You are the face of compassion” for those who have been impacted by incidents of Sexual Assault/Harassment.
