Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, visited the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, California, April 13, to see first-hand the Army's foreign language training mission. Lundy spent time observing classes in Russian, French and Spanish and spoke to students of all four branches of the services about the importance of their studies to national security. During a working lunch, Lundy spoke with DLIFLC civilian and military leadership to express his views about the importance of their contributions to the training of the future force. He also addressed DLIFLC Army cadre later in the day, reminding them of their vital role in the development of young Soldiers. Click the photo above to read more on this story.

New multi-domain platform provides Soldiers with rapidly-transportable fires support. The Hunter (right) and Killer vehicles drive up a road toward the experimentation area of the Maneuver Fires Integrated Experiment (MFIX), April 3, at Fort Sill. These new platforms resemble dune buggies — a vehicle with large wheels designed for various types of terrain. Army senior leaders participated in the Mission Command Network Summit IV at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., April 11, 2017. Attendees included representatives from U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM); U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC); TRADOC Centers of Excellence; Army National Guard; U.S. Army Reserve, key United States Department of the Army staff; selected corps, division, and brigade headquarters; training centers; theater armies; joint partners; and multi-national partners (e.g. UK, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany). The Summit provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss concerns and recommended solutions for issues such as network training, integration and priorities.

Acting Secretary of the Army Robert M. Speer visited the National Simulation Center Thursday, April 6. He was greeted by Brig. Gen. Maria R. Gervais, deputy commanding general of U.S. Army Combined Arms Center – Training, and treated to a showcase of the latest Army virtual training and simulators. He was briefed on the Stryker Virtual Collective Trainer, Synthetic Training Environment and Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention Training Simulations just to name a few.

Acting Secretary of the Army Robert M. Speer spoke to students of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College during a visit to Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Thursday, April 6. Before the presentation, Speer held a working lunch with selected CGSC students and faculty. After lunch, he met with Soldier’s Medal awardee Sgt. Jeremy Dahlen, and the Secretary of the Army awardees Deanne Kilian and Dr. Adela Ganacias, all from Munson Army Health Center. The three recipients were recognition for their vital roles in responding to an incident at MAHC September 7. The Fort Leavenworth visit concluded with a stop the National Simulation Center.
