Acting Secretary of the Army Robert M. Speer spoke to students of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College during a visit to Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Thursday, April 6. Before the presentation, Speer held a working lunch with selected CGSC students and faculty. After lunch, he met with Soldier’s Medal awardee Sgt. Jeremy Dahlen, and the Secretary of the Army awardees Deanne Kilian and Dr. Adela Ganacias, all from Munson Army Health Center. The three recipients were recognition for their vital roles in responding to an incident at MAHC September 7. The Fort Leavenworth visit concluded with a stop the National Simulation Center. Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, welcomes Acting Secretary of the Army Robert M. Speer to Fort Leavenworth Thursday, April 6. Speer spoke to students of the U.S. Army Command General and Staff College during a visit, met with Valor awardees from Munson Army Health Center and visited the National Simulation Center. The visit was a part of a larger trip, which included a stop at the Centennial Commemoration of the National World War I Memorial in Kansas City, Mo.

U.S. Army Combined Arms Center Commanding General Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy - along with Command Sgt. Maj. David Turnbull - signed a proclamation to kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which has the theme "Sexual Assault, Sexual Harassment: Not in our Army." Lundy said sexual assault is one of the top threats our nation faces today and called upon all Soldiers to show accountability for the safety and well-being of their fellow troops.

Hackett discussed peak performance principles and how they apply to Leader Development, highlighting five core mental skills that enable Leaders to excel while under duress: Goal Setting, Adaptive Thinking, Stress/Energy Management, Attention Control, and Imagery. The CAC-TIF team uses novel approaches to identify requirements needed to fill training capability gaps.
