Lt. Gen. Michael D. Lundy addresses a joint audience of Command and General Staff Officers Course (CGSOC) and the School for Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) on understanding changes to the newly drafted version of Field Manual (FM 3-0) "Army Operations" in the Lewis and Clark Center on Fort Leavenworth. FM 3-0 provides a narrative manual that describes how the Army fights during unified land combat operations and provides overarching doctrinal guidance for conducting operations against near-peer adversaries. FM 3-0 also accounts for the expanded battlefield that includes cyberspace, the electromagnetic spectrum, space, and the information environment. Lundy said, "FM 3-0 focuses on the division, corps and theater army. We need to make a shift in how we think about warfighting."

General Robert B. Abrams, commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command, addresses students of the latest pilot command course, Army Strategic Education Program - Command (ASEP-C). The new course is given quarterly to Army officers who are heading toward division command (and equivalents) and is designed to instruct them on advanced warfighting concepts that align more with challenges of the future. With the addition of this course, CAC now delivers all pre-command related instruction at the battalion, brigade and division command levels.

U.S. Army Combined Arms Center Command Sgt. Maj. David O. Turnbull spoke with Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy students Tuesday, April 25. He shared his experience dealing with sexual assault in his ranks and touched on the improvements the Army has made over his time in the Force. Additionally, Turnbull awarded the Army Instructor Badge to Sgt. First Class Robert Dalby, Sgt. First Class Toyah Harris-Griffin and Sgt. First Class Shane Pomerenke during his visit.

The 2017 CGSC Ethics Symposium was opened by Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Commandant of CGSC, on April 24, 2017 at the Lewis and Clark Center, Fort Leavenworth. The Symposium explores the changing and unchanging nature of future warfare. Character is foundational to a leaders capacity to successfully navigate the shifting ethical terrain presented by constantly changing technologies and situations. Participants explore the effects of character on leadership as the wrestle through the ethical impact of technologies and their employment on the battlefield.

Kansas Sen. Pat Roberts met with students from the Advanced Strategic Leadership Studies Program from the School for Advanced Military Studies and assembled subject matter experts, to discuss his trip the Far East - to include South Korea and Japan - and participate in discussions related to the Ukraine region. During the visit Roberts was able to meet personally with Ukrainian officers attending the Command and General Staff College and meet with Lt Gen Mike Lundy, the commanding general for the Combined Arms Center. The Ukrainian officers were able to provide firsthand accounts of their experiences battling the Russian supported opposition. Click the photo above to view more images from his visit.

The U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy hosted its second Professional Forum of 2017 at Marshall Auditorium on Tuesday, April 18. The event was entitled “Cyber Confusion: Digital Justification and How Social Media Fuels Sexual Assault,” and featured guest speaker Dr. Glenn Scott Lipson, Ph.D., A.B.P.P, forensic psychologist and faculty member at the California School of Forensic Studies. Lipson was introduced by Lt. Gen. David Quantock, the Army Inspector General. The forum was attended by current SHARP Academy students and Fort Leavenworth community members including Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC), and Col. She stressed the importance of the IO officer in synchronizing Information Related Capabilities (IRC) for the commander.
