Congratulations to the nearly 1,200 officers graduating from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course here on the morning of June 9, 2017 on the Main Parade Field. The graduating class included mid-career officers from all American military services as well as 110 international officers representing 85 countries and 15 federal government civilian employees.

U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command senior leaders and their IDF counterparts completed the 2017 Future Battlefield Annual Talks (FBAT) with a June 7 session at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. General Robert. B. "Abe" Abrams, commanding general of U.S. Army Forces Command, was the commencement speaker at the 2017 U.S. Army Command and General Staff College graduation Friday, June 9. Abrams encouraged the graduates to pay significant attention to the Army Values when crafting their future leadership styles. "Be a leader of character," Abrams said. "Be a leader that inspires a future generation of selfless service."

The 2017 Command and General Staff School year is coming to a close as the international officers receive their badge for attendance and completion. Maj. Gen. John Kem, Provost for Army University and Deputy Commandant for the Command and General Staff College, presents Maj. Jose Antonio Aguirre Puig, from Spain, his award as Command Sgt. Maj. Gregory Lott, command sergeant major for Army University looks on. In addition to graduating from CGSS, Aguirre was selected to remain for a second year to attend the School for Advanced Military Studies.

Major General Yossi Bachar, Commander of the 446th Corps and Head of the C2 School and Staff and Command, Israeli Defense Force, discusses the Mission Command Center of Excellence (MC CoE) mission and organization with Brigadier General (P) James Mingus, Director, MC CoE. Maj. Gen. Bachar, who is participating in the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command-Israeli Defense Force 2017 Future Battlefield Annual Talks, also reviewed the Army Lessons Learned and Army Doctrine Programs with the directors from the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) and the Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate (CADD).

"The Army is training maneuver (ground) Soldiers to become short-range air defense (SHORAD) warriors through a five-week program at Fort Sill... Twenty-four Soldiers whose military occupational specialties (MOS) included infantry, logistics, fueling, and long range air defense, completed a pilot course May 25, where they learned to use the shoulder-launched Stinger missile. Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, shared information on the DPMAP employee evaluation transition at a town hall meeting yesterday. Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy also addressed the military and civilian members of CAC at the same event, telling them he was proud of the hard work they do every day.

Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general for the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC), and Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy, command general of CAC and Fort Leavenworth, participated in an Army Profession Leader Development Forum (APLDF) Wednesday, May 31. This APLDF (17-3) was primarily focused on issues within the civilian cohort. Traditionally APLDF members critically examine leader development initiatives and programs, discuss issues and draw upon their experience and judgment to advise the commanding general of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command.
