Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, proceeded over the Maneuver Center of Excellence Change of Command ceremony at Fort Benning March 19. With the ceremonial passing of the guidon, Maj. Gen. Gary M. Brito assumed command of the organization from Maj. Gen. Eric J. Wesley.

Gen. Stephen Townsend, Commanding General - U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command addressed, for the first time in his new role at TRADOC, leadership members participating in the Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course (PCC) at the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, KS on Mar 15. PCC prepares battalion and brigade command teams with information on policies, programs and procedures critical to success in these demanding leadership positions. Gen. Marcus Majure (right), Deputy Director, Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL), briefs Brigadier General Pascal Facon (center), Director, Center for Command Doctrine and Teaching (France), March 13, 2018 at the Mission Command Center of Excellence headquarters. Brig. Gen. Facon was accompanied by Col. Nicolas Auboin, Director of Doctrine Directorate; Col. Frederic Gauthier, Commander, French Command and General Staff Course; and U.S. Army Combined Arms Center French LNO, Col. Pierre-Olivier Marchand. The exchange of ideas centered on the ways lessons can be turned into lessons learned, influencing doctrine, and distribution to the teaching environment. The discussion further focused on using lessons to stimulate the culture of junior officers and noncommissioned officers.

U.S. officers from U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and British officers from the Intermediate Command and Staff College (Land) study the battle map March 7 during Exercise Eagle Owl at the Lewis and Clark Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Exercise Eagle Owl occurs twice a year and culminates in the two-week exercise where a combined group of officers, taught by an instructional team consisting of U.S. and U.K. instructors, act as a brigade combat team battle staff. Lt. Gen. Patrick Sanders, CBE, DSO, Commander Field Army, British Army, delivered the annual Kermit Roosevelt Exchange Lecture at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College here Mar. 9. The lecture completes Sanders’s 2-day visit to Fort Leavenworth that included observing the annual Exercise Eagle Owl that brings 200 U.K. officers from the United Kingdom’s Intermediate Command and Staff College (Land) here to study with their U.S. counterparts. The Kermit Roosevelt Exchange Lecture Series began in 1947. The idea for an annual exchange of American and British military lecturers came from Mrs. Kermit Roosevelt, who intended it as a memorial to her late husband. Her ideas were set forth in correspondence to General George C. Marshall dated 17 June 1944.

Bradley Pippin, director of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Analysis Center at Fort Leavenworth, was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony for Class 18-003 of the U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy Thursday, March 8. The SHARP Academy is responsible for the training of Victim Advocates (VAs), Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs) and SHARP Program Managers across the entire Force.

Air Vice-Marshal, Chris Luck, the Commandant of the United Kingdom’s Joint Services Command and Staff College (pictured center) met with the Director of the Army Culture, Regional Expertise and Language Management Office (CRELMO), Dr. Mahir Ibrahimov (right), in the Lewis and Clark Center on March 6. The discussion provided an overview and programming perspective about CRELMO's roles, responsibilities and Army wide capabilities and potentially how it could apply to the UK's related programs. AVM Luck was joined by Col. Peter Little, OBE, British Army Liaison Officer to the Combined Arms Center (left).

General (r) Frank Grass spoke to Knowledge Management Qualification Course 18-03, Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, about “Knowledge Management - Senior Leader considerations getting the right information, to the right people, in the right format, at the right time, in order to arrive at the right decision.” Gen. Grass (r) served as the 27th Chief, National Guard Bureau and as a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. KMQC 18-03 had 19 students from the ranks of sergeant first class through lieutenant colonel and five warrant officers from Active, Reserve and National Guard, along with one Department of the Army civilian.
