Lt. Gen. Patrick Sanders at Kermit Roosevelt Exchange Lecture

Lt. Gen. Patrick Sanders, CBE, DSO, Commander Field Army, British Army, delivered the annual Kermit Roosevelt Exchange Lecture at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College here Mar. 9. The lecture completes Sanders’s 2-day visit to Fort Leavenworth that included observing the annual Exercise Eagle Owl that brings 200 U.K. officers from the United Kingdom’s Intermediate Command and Staff College (Land) here to study with their U.S. counterparts. The Kermit Roosevelt Exchange Lecture Series began in 1947. The idea for an annual exchange of American and British military lecturers came from Mrs. Kermit Roosevelt, who intended it as a memorial to her late husband. Her ideas were set forth in correspondence to General George C. Marshall dated 17 June 1944.
