Mr. Ralph M. Erwin, Senior Geospatial Intelligence Officer, led the discussion on the roles and missions of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This was the second presentation of the school year of the "Inter-Agency Brown-Bag Lecture Series" co-hosted by the U.S. Army Command and General Staff School and the Simons Center for Interagency Cooperation on Sept. 18, 2017 at the Lewis and Clark Center, Fort Leavenworth, KS. Mr. Erwin is the Senior Geospatial Intelligence Officer assigned by the Army National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Support Team to be the NGA Liaison to the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) and the Combined Arms Center (CAC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The Army University Press’s team of historians and technicians have released a virtual staff ride based on the World War II Battle of Stalingrad. To be available for use by commanders throughout the Army, the new VSR was built on the Virtual Battlespace 3 gaming platform. Lt. Gen. Mike Lundy, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, spoke to industry representatives about the Synthetic Training Environment and industry's role in developing the program. The STE was designed to provide a cognitive, collective, multi-echelon training and mission rehearsal capability for the operational, institutional and self-development training domains. It brings together the virtual, constructive and gaming training environments into a single STE for Army Active and Reserve Components as well as civilians.

Lt. Gen. Michael D. Lundy, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, engaged students, faculty and staff of the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) during a recent visit to the Maneuver Center of Excellence. His address provided the students an opportunity to further their development and understanding of the challenges in the current operational environment. He also provided the faculty and staff his vision of how CAC support the Army in developing leaders.

Command and General Staff College (CGSC) students and faculty gathered in the Arnold Conference Room, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., for a standing room only discussion on Russia's Power Projection in the "Grey Zone". The speakers leading the conversation were Brig. Gen. (R) Peter Zwack (via remote location) professor at NDU, Dr. Bob Baumann of CGSC, and director of CRELMO, Dr. Mahir Ibrahimov. The event on Sep. 12, 2017 was moderated by Dr. Prisco Hernandez of CGSC.

Brigadier General Scott L. Efflandt became the second Provost of the Army University in an assumption of responsibility ceremony at the Lewis and Clark Center Sept. 7, 2017. The outdoor ceremony was hosted by Mr. Kirby R. Brown, deputy to the commanding general, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center. Fort Leavenworth installed Efflandt as the Provost and as deputy commandant of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC). Previous provost, Maj. Gen. John S. During the 108th Sustainment Brigade's MCT week on 14-18 August 2017, Mr. Van Noah of the University of North Carolina leads the unit in a Distribution Management Exercise. Lt. Col. Todd Alston, Deputy Chief of Operations Group (DCOG), of Operations Group Sierra facilitated the exercise, which is an experiential learning business simulation created by faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in early 1960s to demonstrate the principles of supply chain management. A debriefing session of roughly equivalent length typically follows to review the results of each team and discuss the lessons involved.

Peruvian Army Commander Gen. Luis H. Ramos Hume visited the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) and the Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, Ga. The primary focus of the visit was the institute's combined graduation of three courses; Interagency Crisis Action Planning Course, the Basic Enlisted Leadership Professional Development Course and the Cadet Leadership Development Course. Students represented the countries of Colombia, Chile, Costa Rica, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and the U.S.
