CALL Insider Newsletter Jul-Aug 2017

This month we delivered several highly anticipated products that I am sure will benefit your units and formations. The “Radio and System Operators Handbook,” Version 2, updates one of our most requested products with step-bystep instructions for operating radios and systems up through Capability Set 15. We also released “Ten Fundamental Brigade Combat Team Skills Required to Win the First Fight” and “Fighting with Fires” in collaboration with the subject matter experts at the National Training Center.

Welcome to the March/April 2016 edition of the CALL Insider Newsletter. During the past two months, CALL analysts participated in multiple collections and training events including U.S. Army Central’s (USARCENT) Lucky Warrior 16 exercise and the Mission Command Training Program’s (MCTP) warfighter (WfX) 16-4 exercise collection. This edition highlights CALL’s support to the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine (JMTG-U) and to the institutional Army in various educational settings.

CALL Insider include two catalogs we produced last month based on topics trending in the Army community. Subterranean Ops and Counter-Weapons of Mass Destruction both provide the user with a compilation of doctrine, handbooks, information papers, after action reports, and historical documents that CALL analysts determined were relevant and would assist Soldiers and unit leaders.

One of my regrets as I wrap up my two years as the Director of CALL and 30 years of military service is that I did not give enough back to the Army so that the Army as a whole could learn. I was very good at conducting unit After Action Reviews and implementing unit-level changes, but was not good at informing the Army institution through writing articles to periodicals and submitting After Action Reports to CALL and others to use in driving necessary changes for problem resolution and to share best practices for adoption by others.
