Eric Fanning, acting Secretary of the Army, visited the SHARPAcademy

Eric Fanning, acting Secretary of the Army, visited the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy Thursday, Dec. 17. Fanning received a briefing on the activities of the academy from Lt. Gen. Robert Brown, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, and Col. Geoffrey Catlett, director of the SHARP Academy. The discussion consisted of questions about how to prevent sexual harassment and assault, and the metrics by which success could be measured. "We have extremely effective ways to evaluate the success of training and response," Catlett said in reference the Fanning's questions on metrics. "It is much tougher to evaluate prevention efforts, because how do you evaluate a negative event -- an event that didn't occur."
