Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony for Class 17-007 of the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy. Niyonda Tillman of Fort Leavenworth was presented the Academic Excellence Award and Staff Sgt. John Sydnor from Fort Gordon, Ga., was presented the SHARP Spirit Award.

Colonel W. Todd Winklbauer, deputy director and senior military analyst for the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Analysis Center at Fort Leavenworth, was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony for Class 17-006 of the Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy. Sandra Hocking of Fort Sam Houston, Texas, was presented both the Academic Excellence Award and the SHARP Spirit Award.

Russell W. Strand, co-founder and managing partner of SHIFT, LLC. independent consultant, educator and presenter, was the guest speaker at this quarter’s SHARP Academy Professional Forum, which was entitled “Senior Leader Cultural Change – Building a World that Doesn’t Exist." Strand presented attendees with up-to-date research, case studies and strategies on understanding sex offenders from a criminal justice viewpoint. He offered evidence on how offenders not only groom and manipulate victims, but coworkers, friends, relatives, neighbors and professionals. Click the photo above to read more.

Colonel Craig E. Merutka, Staff Judge Advocate for the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, was the guest speaker at today’s Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy graduation. This event marked the last class Col. Geoff Catlett will preside over as SHARP Academy director as he prepares to move onto his next duty assignment. Captain Kathryn E. Hermon – who also performed the National Anthem for the event - was presented the Academic Excellence Award and Sgt. First Class Janell Harris was received the SHARP Spirit Award. On May 9, 2017 LTG David Quantock, Army Inspector General, addressed the pilot SHARP Program Manager (PM) course at the SHARP Academy, Ft. Leavenworth. LTG Quantock identified the need for a sound working relationship between the PM and their installation IG, the continued effort of educating our Soldiers and the need to disseminate best practices across the Army. LTG Quantock explained that in his travels he has seen several SHARP related programs that have had positive results; however other PM's across the Army are not aware of the program or its success.

U.S. Army Combined Arms Center Command Sgt. Maj. David O. Turnbull awarded the Army Instructor Badge to Sgt. First Class Robert Dalby, Sgt. First Class Toyah Harris-Griffin and Sgt. First Class Shane Pomerenke at Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy students Tuesday, April 25. He also spoke with students about his experience dealing with sexual assault in his ranks and touched on the improvements the Army has made over his time in the Force.

The U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy hosted its second Professional Forum of 2017 at Marshall Auditorium on Tuesday, April 18. The event was entitled “Cyber Confusion: Digital Justification and How Social Media Fuels Sexual Assault,” and featured guest speaker Dr. Glenn Scott Lipson, Ph.D., A.B.P.P, forensic psychologist and faculty member at the California School of Forensic Studies. Lipson was introduced by Lt. Gen. David Quantock, the Army Inspector General. The forum was attended by current SHARP Academy students and Fort Leavenworth community members including Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC), and Col. The U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy hosted its first Professional Forum at Marshall Auditorium of 2017 on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The event was entitled “Building Safe Communities in our Nation’s Schools,” and featured speakers from five different universities and a guest from the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA).
