U.S. Army Combined Arms Center Command Sgt. Maj. David O. Turnbull awarded the Army Instructor Badge to Sgt. First Class Robert Dalby, Sgt. First Class Toyah Harris-Griffin and Sgt. First Class Shane Pomerenke at Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy students Tuesday, April 25. He also spoke with students about his experience dealing with sexual assault in his ranks and touched on the improvements the Army has made over his time in the Force.

The U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy hosted its second Professional Forum of 2017 at Marshall Auditorium on Tuesday, April 18. The event was entitled “Cyber Confusion: Digital Justification and How Social Media Fuels Sexual Assault,” and featured guest speaker Dr. Glenn Scott Lipson, Ph.D., A.B.P.P, forensic psychologist and faculty member at the California School of Forensic Studies. Lipson was introduced by Lt. Gen. David Quantock, the Army Inspector General. The forum was attended by current SHARP Academy students and Fort Leavenworth community members including Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center (CAC), and Col. The U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy hosted its first Professional Forum at Marshall Auditorium of 2017 on Wednesday, Feb. 8. The event was entitled “Building Safe Communities in our Nation’s Schools,” and featured speakers from five different universities and a guest from the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA). The Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy graduated Class 16-011 in a ceremony today, Thursday, Sept. 1, in Grant Auditorium. Col. Craig Merutka, staff judge advocate for the U.. Army Combined Arms Center, was the guest speaker for the event. Special awards were presented to Sgt. 1st Class Roshunda Bassett-Olson (Academic Excellence Award) and Sgt. 1st Class Latisha Brossard (Spirit Award).

The Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy graduated Class 16-010 in a ceremony today, Friday, Aug. 26, in Grant Auditorium. Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, was the guest speaker for the event. Special awards were presented to Lisa Lerma (Academic Excellence Award) and Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Ratchford (Spirit Award). Additionally, Staff Sgt. James House received the commander's coin from Brown for performing much needed first aid to a fellow student during the school year.

Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) and his staff spent time with the U.S. Army SHARP Academy leadership Wednesday, Aug. 10 to gain a greater appreciation about the training program to develop unit Sexual Assault Response Coordinators and Victim Advocates. Roberts was impressed to learn enlistees receive sexual assault and sexual harassment awareness training at the recruiting station. Once at basic training, new recruits will also receive a 3-hour block of instruction on SHARP within the first 14 days of training, and the avenues available to them should they experience a problem while in the service.
