The Army Counterintelligence (CI) Program requires its members to be mature, intelligent, and personable to carry out the broad range of CI functions to detect, identify, exploit, and neutralize any foreign intelligence entities (FIE), international terrorist organizations (ITO), and insider threats who are targeting U.S. Forces, information, and technologies. The CI Special Agent must be capable of operating independently and make sound judgments in the absence of higher leadership or supervision. The CI Special Agent must also interact with senior officials of both U.S. and host-nation military, civilian law enforcement, as well as intelligence and security agencies. As such, personnel applying for the Army CI Program must be among the most professional and competent Soldiers in the Army.
Soldiers interested in becoming a CI Special Agent are encouraged to review the In-Service CIRecruiting Website and begin the application process through the CI ApplicantPortal.
