New CGSC course creates AI sharpshooters

Before any Soldier steps up to a sniper hide or takes a precision shot, they must first know their weapon inside and out. It isn’t magic; it is simply a tool of the trade. The U.S. Army Command and General Staff College’s newest AI Basics elective course is applying that same philosophy to Artificial Intelligence.

About CAC

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas is the oldest continuously operating military installation west of the Mississippi River. This historic post, noted for its campus setting, open green spaces and hometown character, is the home of the US Army's Combined Arms Command (CAC). CAC, as a major subordinate headquarters of the U.S. Army Transformation and Training Command, has often been referred to as the "Intellectual Center of the Army". It is, in many regards, "home base" for the majority of field grade officers across the Army.

Since 1882, CAC and its predecessor organizations have been engaged in the primary mission of preparing the Army and its leaders for war. At present, this mission is divided between preparing the Army for the Global War on Terrorism and transforming it to meet future threats.

In order to accomplish these critical missions, CAC develops and integrates Army leader development, doctrine, education, lessons learned, functional training, training support, training development, and proponent responsibilities in order to support mission command and prepare the Army to successfully conduct unified land operations in a joint, inter-agency, inter-governmental, multinational environment.

CAC is comprised of more than 34,000 Soldiers and ACPs stationed throughout the United States, Europe, Republic of Korea, Southwest Asia, U.S. Army – Branch Schools, Non-Branch Schools, and Centers of Excellence (CoEs). The CAC synchronizes 37 US Army schools through Army University educating and training more than 300,000 students annually, including nearly 5,000 students from 130 separate nations and more than 10,000 sailors, airmen, and Marines from the Joint Force.
