Career Long Assessments: Athena (CLA: Athena) is an Army leader development program designed to inform and motivate Soldiers to embrace personal and professional development. Adding to the Army’s culture of assessments, Athena uses batteries of assessments to increase a Soldier’s self-awareness of leadership skills and behaviors, cognitive abilities, and personal traits and attributes. Assessment batteries are strategically selected to complement the leadership skills being developed at a number of Army schools. For each assessment completed, students receive a feedback report with their results and information about how to interpret their results.
Operational assessments provide data-driven insights and self-awareness to units and Army personnel. This webpage serves as a centralized hub for resources and support materials. Curated information and resources help leaders interpret their results and translate insights into effective action plans. These resources foster continuous growth, enhance leadership effectiveness, and promote overall unit readiness.
CAL's Annual Study of Army Leadership (CASAL) is a recurring annual CAC initiative, since 2005, to capture trends in leadership, leader development (LD), the operating environment and special topics. The longitudinal nature and Army-wide administration of CASAL produces valid and reliable insights that are generalizable and actionable. The findings inform senior leaders and key stakeholders about the quality and effectiveness of Army leadership, LD and impacts of the operating environment.
