MULTIMEDIA

The team at the Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate recognizes that simply reading doctrinal publications may not be enough to fully understand every concept and term. The primary mission of our Special Doctrine Division is to create products that augment our doctrinal manuals and present information in ways that address different learning styles and levels of understanding. From audiobooks to podcasts to videos (both short and long-form), CADD is using multimedia to fill knowledge gaps.

Our vision is to engage Army Professionals, providing doctrinal knowledge at the point of need through creative, nontraditional, deliver means.

Expand access to Army doctrine.

Enhance awareness.

Inspire Soldiers and Civilians to pursue doctrinal knowledge.

Audiobooks

Doctrine audiobooks can be downloaded from the Central Army Registry (CAR) at https://rdl.train.army.mil/catalog/#/search?search_terms=audiobook.  Audiobooks are produced from authenticated doctrine, but are abridged for the audiobook format and considered a doctrine supplement.  Since fiscal year 2019, CADD has developed more than 90 doctrine audiobooks for the Army. The audiobook format is considered for manuals with sufficient shelf-life, broad appeal to the force, and interest shown by number of publication downloads.

Video

The Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate YouTube channel hosts more than 150 videos that supplement Army doctrine. In short form, Doctrine Digest delivers information about a single doctrinal term or concept and are also shared via our social media platforms. Special projects, such as our FM 3-0 documentary, provide viewers with more detailed explanations of Army doctrine-related topics. They also deliver a substitute for mobile training teams when funding or schedules do not permit an in-person training experience.
