After U.S. Army Europe inactivated the 7th Army Parachute Team, the members of the Coleman Barracks Sport Parachute Club in Mannheim served the USAREUR public affairs program as the Command Parachute Demonstration Team. Bob Cassella was one of 14 members of the troop chosen to participated in a joint French and American commemoration of the Normandy invasion at Sainte Mere L’Eglise in 1975. In recognition of the six jumps conducted with the French airborne soldiers, the troopers of the Section de Saut en Vol planned to submit the names for award of the coveted French parachutist badge. After waiting a few years, Cassella thought that he would never receive his French wings — that is, until yesterday — Monday, June 6 — when he was awarded the prestigious award by Col. Nicolas Auboin, French liaison officer for the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center in a small ceremony.

Lt. Gen. Michael Lundy took command of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center today during a ceremony held at Fort Leavenworth. Gen. David Perkins, commanding general of the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, presided over the event.

Kirby Brown, deputy to the commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, led 22 new Fort Leavenworth employees in the Civilian Oath of Office today. The new employees include: Lee Abold, Kristin Dixon, Philip Eiberger, Nicole Hazelton, Marvin Howard, Megan Hunter, Jimmy Johnson, David Linville, Joseph McCrudden, Benjamin Mwangi, Mark Salas, Stefan Schmidt, Andrew Taylor, William Welch, Victoria Williams, Sherri Zinser, Stuart Turnquist, Vickie Schlonga, Caralee Pruitt, Rhonda Forsberg, Christyne Hedberg and Charles Woodward.

The Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Academy graduated Class 16-008 during a small ceremony held in Flint Hall at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. Sgt. Maj. Eli A. Valenzuela, DCG-ARNG sergeant major for the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center, was the event's keynote speaker.

Brig. Gen. John S. Kem, the interim commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, presents Brig. Gen. Troy D. Galloway with his Assumption of Command orders as Galloway begins his new role as the Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard for CAC, while Command Sgt. Maj. David O. Turnbull , the CAC Command Sergeant Major, and Command Sgt. Maj. Eli A. Valenzuela, the senior enlisted advisor for National Guard at CAC look on. The ceremony took place at the Frontier Conference Center on Fort Leavenworth May 2. In his new role, Galloway will assure the unity of effort between the Combined Arms Center, Training and Doctrine Command, and Headquarters Department of the Army.

Lt. Gen. Robert Brown gave his final farewell speech as commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth to the students attending the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College. Brown received Senate confirmation for his four-star promotion Thursday and relinquished command within hours of the notification. Brown will now depart and begin his new position as the Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
