DESCRIPTION

The Tactical Information Operations Planners Course is a 10-day course designed to provide the knowledge and skill to plan Information Operations (IO) at the tactical level to achieve the commander's objectives in the Information Environment. Students will gain a working knowledge of IO and the various Information Related Capabilities (IRCs) such as Civil Affairs (CA), Psychological Operations (PSYOP), Public Affairs (PA), Combat Camera (COMCAM), Electronic Warfare (EW), Military Deception (MILDEC), Operations Security (OPSEC) Cyber-Electromagnetic Activities (CEMA) and many more. Using scenario-based exercises, students work in small groups and independently to plan, integrate, synchronize, coordinate and assess IO to support a maneuver course of action, line of effort, or named operation. Students employ various IO tools to capture and brief the results of their planning and analysis, such as the Combined Information Overlay (CIO), IO Synch Matrix, and Concept of Support sketch & narrative. Student knowledge will be evaluated during individual practical exercises and collectively during the culminating exercise, in which they will apply their knowledge of information operations at the tactical level. Graduates of this course will be eligible for the P4 Additional Skill Identifier (ASI).

PREREQUISITES

Active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard commissioned officer (LT – LTC), warrant officer (W1-W5) or non-commissioned officer (SGT – MSG).

There are no prerequisites to attend TIOPC. There is a self-paced Distance Learning course that is available as an optional course for those that would like to have an introduction to Information Operations.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES

ATRRS POCs may submit applications to any RESIDENT class (001, 002, etc). Please coordinate with the Course Director prior to submitting ATRRS applications for classes listed as ONSITE (701, 702, etc). Mobile Training Team (MTT) and Offline TRAP requests may be coordinated with the TIOPC Course Director and submitted through Quota Source Managers (QSMs) to HRC for Compo 1 and 3 and NGB for Compo 2.
