All Information Operations Officers should continue to seek assignment oriented training to maintain expertise in all information related capabilities. Assignment oriented training includes, but is not limited to the following courses:

Army – Joint Operational Fires & Effects Course (JOFEC)

The JOFEC trains and educates personnel from all services, ABCA countries, and other government agencies on the skills and processes necessary to apply and integrate joint lethal and non-lethal fires and effects. Each student should gain a baseline knowledge of joint and service fires capabilities, platforms, operational environment, doctrine, the joint targeting process and how the joint fires and effects system works. It will prepare students to function effectively in a joint operational environment. Their knowledge will be exercised and validated during a culminating exercise where they apply the principles of joint lethal and non-lethal fires and effects. This course focuses on Joint Doctrine and the integration of this doctrine from planning to execution.

 

Army Space Cadre Basic Course (ASCBC) - CAC required

ASCBC provides a fundamental understanding of space concepts and capabilities for members of the Army Space Cadre.  This course is offered in residence and through mobile training teams. The two-week ASCBC fulfills the education requirements for the Basic Space Badge, Level 1 Civilian Space Professional certification, and the education portion of the ASI/SI 3Y and the Personnel Development Skill Identifier “S1A” requirements. ASCBC is in the Army Training Requirements and Resource System (ATRRS), school code “129”.  Additional courses are available through the USASMDC/ARSTRAT Directorate of Training and Doctrine.  To review all available courses search school code “129” in ATRRS.

 

Cyber Operations Planners Course (COPC)

The COPC is a two-week course that enables students to plan and brief Cyber Operations; define, plan, and advise for Defensive Cyberspace Operations; define, plan, and advise for Offensive Cyberspace Operations; define Cyber Mission Force structure and organizations; define, plan, and advise for Cyber Support to Corps and Below (CSCB); and demonstrate a proficiency to target in Cyberspace.

 

Defense Operations Security Planners Course (DOPC)  

The DOPC is a one-week course designed to educate and train select military students, Department of Defense civilian equivalents, and designated contractors assigned as Operations Security (OPSEC) planners, J5/Joint planning group planners, and OPSEC program managers. Course graduates will be able to effectively plan, integrate, conduct, and assess Joint OPSEC at the joint/operational level, across the range of military operations, in accordance with applicable doctrine, policy, and authorities, as well as to enhance corporate knowledge of vulnerabilities associated with operations and plans for the joint warfighter. DOPC is taught by the Joint OPSEC Support Element and is accredited by the Joint Forces Staff College.

 

HQDA Operations Security (OPSEC) Program Manager/Officer Course

 

Prepare appointed OPSEC program managers to manage an OPSEC program and advise the commander on all OPSEC matters. Graduates will have the ability to identify vulnerabilities and select appropriate OPSEC measures to protect identified critical information. These acquired skills will assist the OPSEC Officer with planning and program development for overall program success and mission effectiveness. Individuals successfully completing the HQDA OPSEC Officer Course or IOSS equivalent will be qualified to provide Level I OPSEC training.

 

Joint Electronic Warfare Theater Operations Course

This ten-day course is designed to educate and train military students to plan, integrate, and synchronize electronic warfare (EW) into Joint operational-level plans and orders. The goal is to produce EW officers and senior noncommissioned officers who are ready to mass component-level expertise into an adaptive, effective Joint EW oversight, management, and execution cell for the Joint Force Commander. Specifically, the course focuses on EW mission areas outlined in JP 3-13.1, “Electronic Warfare,” including: (1) Overview of Joint Electronic Warfare (2) Organizing for Joint Electronic Warfare (3) Planning Joint Electronic Warfare, and (4) Coordinating Electronic Warfare.  NOTE: This course is a U.S.-only education program. Registration is via SIPRNET on Intelink.

 

Joint Information Planners Course (JIPC)

This course consists of several modules and assignments designed to orient participants to information planning and the information capabilities and activities.  The lessons will provide a brief introduction to the following topics: Introduction to joint warfighting and joint operations, introduction to information in joint operations, information theory and the information environment, legality as it relates to information, information capabilities and activities, and an introduction to joint planning and joint targeting. The overall goal is to assist in preparation for future combatant command-level information planning.  Focus is on the operational level of war.

 

Joint Military Deception Training Course, JFSC

 

Designed to educate and train selected military students between the grades of E-6 to E-9 and O-3 and O-6, Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalents, and designated contractors assigned to plan, execute or support Joint MILDEC. Course graduates will demonstrate basic-level proficiency in planning, conducting, and assessing Joint MILDEC and Deception in Support of Operations security (DISO), across the range of military operations, in accordance with applicable doctrine, policy and authorities.

Joint Targeting Staff Course (JTSC)

The JTSC provides doctrinally based joint targeting education and training that prepares Service, Interagency, and Allied personnel for operational-level targeting duties. Focus is on the application of the six step Joint Targeting Cycle:  1) End State and Commander's Objectives, 2) Target Development and Prioritization, 3) Capabilities Analysis, 4) Commander's Decision and Force Assignment, 5) Mission Planning and Force Execution, and 6) Targeting Assessment.  The Joint Targeting Staff Course grade requirement is O-2 to O-6, CW1 to CW5, E-6 to E-9, or DoD civilian equivalent.

Military Deception Planners' Course (MDPC)

The MDPC consists of 40-hours formal classroom instruction and a hands-on practical exercise. The training follows the five-phase military deception planning cycle (Capability Development, Assessment Phase, Planning Phase, Execution Phase, and Termination Phase) described in the Department of the Army Military Deception Planners Guide and the Air, Land, Sea Application Center’s Multi-Service Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for Military Deception. The instruction covers MILDEC policy, doctrine, terminology, fundamentals, and principles; and time proven tactics, techniques and procedures. Students receive eight hours of formal lecture, with the remaining 32 hours devoted to walking each participant through the entire deception cycle following a realistic training scenario. Each day, students view a video of a different historical case study to reinforce learning objectives. All students receive a bound student guide, key consideration book, and a copy of the Department of the Army Military Deception Planners’ Guide or the Multi-Service Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for Military Deception.
