Frequently Asked Questions
"Is on-base housing available?"
Yes. The Housing office has housing set aside incoming students. For either session, contact Fort Leavenworth Family Housing in order to meet the deadlines. There will be a drawing to choose a village (post housing is broken down into small communities) based on your needs, and if you check in early, you can decline your village and take whatever is available. This may be a downgrade in the type of unit you were expecting, so you have a choice to make. The surrounding communities offer ample opportunities to rent or purchase a home if you desire.
"What do I have to do prior to check-in?"
You will receive all materials and software upon check-in, with ample time to prepare for class, take care of personal matters, and get used to the area. The preparation that would be valuable for you is exploring your own warfare community for valid, current information. You will be looked to as the subject matter expert for maritime planning issues.
"How do I get an AKO account?"
Upon receipt of your official orders (not verbal notification) our Administrative Assistant will begin your sponsorship, and forward you information regarding the set up of your Army Knowledge Online (AKO) account. This will happen well ahead of any requirements you might have concerning US Student Division timelines.
"What JPME credit do I get for attending?"
You will receive JPME phase one credit. There is no degree awarded unless you fulfill the additional requirements for the Master of Military Art and Science (MMAS). You will have to attend JFSC in Norfolk to earn the JPME phase two credit.
