FINDING MILITARY PUBLICATIONS AND DOCTRINE: A Pathfinder

U.S. ARMY PUBLICATIONS

The Reimer Digital Library (ATIA) is the main repository for most current Army publications. You will have to login to view  the publications.  Click on the "RDL Services" tab; then on the next screen select the "Official Departmental Publications" radial button.

The Army Publishing Directorate (APD) also provides links to current Army publications. Some publications, like Field Manuals, require an AKO login to view them.

To find out if an Army publication is current, use the online version of DA PAM 25-30: Consolidated Index of Army Publications and Forms.

Quick Links to many current Army publications are provided below:

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE PUBLICATIONS

JOINT PUBLICATIONS

Current Joint publications are available from the Joint Electronic Library (JEL). The menu on the left side of the JEL page provides links to Joint Publications, CJCS Directives (including CJCS  instructions, manuals, and notices), and other joint publications.

INTERGENCY

Some current Air Force publications are available from the Air Force Publishing Website.

Information on USMC publications and doctrine is available at the Marine Corps Publications Website.

A few current Navy publications are available from the Department of the Navy Issuances.

OBSOLETE PUBLICATIONS

Obsolete publications are found through a variety of online sources, some of which are extremely difficult to search. The CARL Digital Library currently has over 200 items in its Obsolete Military Manuals Collection.

To find out if an Army publication is current, use the online version of DA PAM 25-30: Consolidated Index of Army Publications and Forms. Obsolete items are listed in red.
