Personnel RecoveryPersonnel Recovery (PR) is part of the Warrior's Ethos: "I will never leave a fallen comrade." It is vital that units and commanders include personnel recovery in their planning process. PR is defined as:
The sum of military, diplomatic, and civil efforts to effect the recovery and return of US military, DOD civilians, and DOD contractor personnel who are isolated in an operational environment, or as determined by the secretary of Defense. (FM 3-50.1 Army Personnel Recovery, Aug 2005)
