Electronic Warfare

From lessons learned in the recent conflicts in OIF/OEF, Electronic Warfare (EW) has grown in significance since 2001. It is the Army's newest career field, the 29-series, and is critical to the fight against IEDs. EW is defined as:

Military action involving the use of electromagnetic and directed energy to control the electromagnetic spectrum or to attack the enemy. Electronic warfare consists of three divisions: electronic attack, electronic protection, and electronic warfare support. (JP 3-13 Information Operations, Feb 2006)
