Definition/Scope: Fire support and tactical assistance provided to combat elements. May include artillery, helicopter, engineer, MP, signal, and electronic warfare. FM 3-0 Rescinded the terms combat arms, combat support, and combat service support. Users are to use the appropriate warfighting function to describe unit types and functions.
