Definition/Scope: (JP 1-02) Collateral damage is the unintentional or incidental injury or danage to persons or objects that would not be lawful military targets in the circumstances ruling at the time. OLD VERSION: The inadvertent or secondary damage occurring as a result of actions by friendly or enemy forces.
