Definition/Scope: The ground moving target indicator (GMTI) radar capability is the process of using Doppler radar to distinguish fixed objects versus moving vehicles. This capability of Doppler has enabled ?near-real time? intelligence and target acquisition to ground commanders. The intelligence gained from GMTI radar allows a commander to use a better assortment of troops and equipment thus allowing a faster and better decision making process.
