Independent agencies

Definition/Scope: (Usa.gov) Independent agencies are created by Congress to address concerns that go beyond the scope of ordinary legislation. These agencies are responsible for keeping the government and economy running smoothly. Some examples of independent agencies are AMTRAK, Central Intelligence Agency, Farm Credit Administration, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, and the Institute of museum and Library Services.
