Multi-National Division - Central

Definition/Scope: The Multi-National Division-Center (MND-C) is also known as Task Force Mountain (as of Dec 2008). The area is similar in size to West Virginia and extended from the Saudi Arabian border in the west to the Iranian border in the east. MND-C encompasses the provinces of Babil, Karbala, Najaf, and Wasit and the two largest qadas (districts) of Baghdad Province, Mada'in and Mahmudiyah. Although Najaf and Karbala were in MND-C, they were under provincial Iraqi control and had no brigade combat team (BCT) presence. BCTs were located in the Mada'in and Mahmudiyah districts as well as in North Babil. It has been replaced by MND-S.
