Active Denial Technology

Definition/Scope: Active Denial Technology is the technology (a technology that causes an intolerable, but non-damaging, heating sensation on the targeted subjects) behind the principle of the Active Denial System. It is based off of using radio waves (millimeter-wave electromagnetic energy) as a non-lethal weapon platform. The Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is the principal agent behind the research and development.
