basic load ammunition holding area
Definition/Scope: (DAP 385-64) Basic load ammunition holding areas, BLAHA, are storage areas that certain units can keep their basic load of ammunition in readiness within the immediate vicinity of their barracks (in armored vehicles, trucks, trailers, structures, or on pads). They are comprised of one or more licensed storage sites and involve acceptance of greater risks to personnel, facilities, and equipment than other types of ammunition storage areas. Prepositioned war reserves are not allowed to be mixed with basic load ammunition.
