Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 8
Definition/Scope: The Homeland Security Presidential Directive-8 established policies to strengthen the U.S. preparedness in order to prevent and respond to threatened or actual domestic terrorist attacks, major disasters, and other emergencies. The directive requires a national domestic all-hazards preparedness goal, with established mechanisms for improved delivery of Federal preparedness assistance to State and local governments. It also outlines actions to strengthen preparedness capabilities of federal, state, and local entities. This is a companion directive to HSPD-5.
