XM1201 Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle
Definition/Scope: The XM1201 Reconnaissance and Surveillance Vehicle (RSV) is part of the Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV) family and is the eyes and ears of the battlefield. It features a suite of advanced sensors to detect, locate, track, classify, and automatically identify targets from increased standoff ranges under all climatic conditions, day or night. Included in this suite are the following: a mast-mounted, long-range electro-optic infrared sensor; an emitter mapping sensor for Radio Frequency (RF) intercept and direction finding; remote chemical detection; and a multifunction RF sensor. The RSV also features the onboard capability to conduct automatic target detection, aided target recognition and level one sensor fusion. To further enhance the scout's capabilities, the RSV is equipped with Unattended Ground Sensors (UGS), a Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle (SUGV), and a Class I Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system.
