Target Acquisition Battery

Definition/Scope: (DOD, NATO) The detection, identification, and location of a target in sufficient detail to permit the effective employment of weapons. There are several types of acquisition batteries: heavy division TAB, Divisional MLRS TAB, IBCT TAP and a separate brigade TAP. FM 1-02
