US Officer Candidate School
Definition/Scope: Institutions or facilities that train civilians and enlisted personnel in order for them to gain a commission as officers in the armed forces. There are four military academies for candidates; US Navy is located at Naval Station Newport, US Army is located Fort Benning, USMC is located at Marine Corps Base Quantico and the USAF is located at Maxwell Air Force Base. OCS should not be confused with ROTC which a candidate completes an educational degree program upon completion of their schooling.
