Target Acquisition Designation Sight

Definition/Scope: Part one of two parts fitted to the Apache helicopter. The TADS portion containsstabilized electro-optical sensors, a laser range finder and a target designator. The movement of the TADS can be "slaved" to the pilots helmet which allows images to be projected onto the crew helmet optical sights. TADS also contains a thermal imaging infrared camera and a monochrome daylight television camera.
