wedge formation

Definition/Scope: (FM 1-02) A unit formation with subordinate elements in a vee formation with the point toward the suspected or templated enemy positions. This facilitates control and transition to the assault (line formation). The wedge provides maximum firepower forward and good firepower to the flanks.
