strategic warnings

Definition/Scope: A notification that enemy-initiated hostilities may be imminent. This notification may be received from minutes to hours, to days, or longer, prior to the initiation of hostilities. Strategic warning is a cyclic intelligence process in which a decisionmaker must make a decision to take action or not for the process to be completed.
