Officer Basic Course Signal Corps

Definition/Scope: The first step in the development of a Signal Corps lieutenant is attendance at the Officer Basic Course at Fort Gordon, GA. The focus of the course is to provide the full range of military leadership and technical skills the students will need in their first several assignments. This 18-week course covers general topics such as Military Leadership, Combat Operations, Organizational Logistics and Maintenance Support. The course also includes detailed instruction in: Electronics, Automation, Tactical Radio, Tactical Satellite, Functions of a Signal Battalion Platoon Leader and a Non-Signal Battalion S-6 (Staff Officer). There is also instruction on Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) and the Army's Area Common User System.
