Definition/Scope: (ATTP 3-39.10) A seizure is the taking of property from the possessor by an authorized person or the restriction of freedom of movement of an individual against their will by an agent of the government. Any item that is reasonably believed to be an unlawful weapon, contraband, or evidence of a crime or that might be used to resist apprehension or to escape may be seized. OLD VERSION A tactical task to clear a designated area and obtain control of it.
