Definition/Scope: (AR 381-12) An act or acts intending to cause the overthrow or destruction of the U.S. Government by force or violence, or by the assassination of any U.S. Government official. These acts include conspiracy, knowingly or willingly advocating, abetting, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying by force or violence the U.S. Government. OLD VERSION Willfully advocating or teaching the duty or necessity of overthrowing the US government or any political subdivision by force or violence.
