Definition/Scope: (1) A telecommunications service provided via one or more satellite relays and their associated uplinks and downlinks. (2) Communication that involves the use of an active or passive satellite to extend the range of a radio, television, or other transmitter by returning signals to earth from an orbiting satellite.
