Definition/Scope: A twin turbofan engine, multicrew antisubmarine aircraft capable of operating off aircraft carriers. It is designed to detect, locate, and destroy submarines using an integrated, computer-controlled attack system and a variety of conventional and/or nuclear ordnance. Designated as S-3.
