radio silence

Definition/Scope: A period during which all or certain radio equipment is kept interoperative. Radio silence may be imposed for all equipment for all frequencies or may apply only to certain types and designated frequency bands. (Note: In multinational or United States Joint or intraservice communications the frequency bands and/or types of equipment affected will be specified.)
