proponent agencies

Definition/Scope: Proponent agencies are agencies that are held accountable for a decision, procedure, or guidance. Also known as an agency who puts a proposal out for decision, an agency who argues in favor of something or an agency who supports a cause or doctrine. Examples are when filling out a form the instructions will describe who the "proponent agency" is to go to for more information.
