102d Fighter Interceptor Wing

Definition/Scope: The 102d FIW started as the 101st Observation Squadron in the spring of 1921. On 01 April 2008 the 102d FIW was redesignated in accordance with the BRAC 2005 recommendations. The new title is 102d Intelligence Wing. All planes that were assigned to the FIW were sent to the 104th Fighter Wing. The 102d FIW were the first responders to 9/11, flown by Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Duffy and Major Daniel Nash.
