Definition/Scope: (Joint) The acquisition of intelligence information by employing visual observation and/or sensors in air vehicles. (Army) The use of air vehicles (fixed wing, rotary wing, or unmanned aerial vehicles) to obtain information concerning terrain, weather, and the disposition, composition, movement, installations, lines of communications, and electronic and communications emissions of enemy forces.
