air operations center
Definition/Scope: Formerly called the tactical air control center, a ground based element of the theater air control system that is divided between the plans and operations functions. Its primary function is to provide the staff necessary to support the air component commander in his function as the airspace control authority. The Army representative at this element is the battlefield coordination element.
