Definition/Scope: (FM7-1) The institutional Army focuses on educating and training soldiers, leaders, and the civilian work force on the key knowledge, skills, and attributes required to operate in any environment. Institutional training and education enhances military knowledge, individual potential, initiative, and competence in warfighting skills. It infuses an ethos of service to the nation and the Army, and provides the educational, intellectual, and experiential foundation for success on the battlefield.
