AIM-7 Sparrow

Definition/Scope: A semi-active radar homing, medium range air-to-air missile. It has been continuously upgraded with variants using semi-active radar homing guidance and continuous wave or pulse doppler radars for target illumination. It was the principal Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missile until the 1990’s. it is being phased out to be replaced by the AIM-120 AMRAAM.
