Definition/Scope: (ADRP 6-0) A symbol used on maps and displays to regulate forces and warfighting functions. NOTE: FM 3-0 has been superceded by ADP 3-0. OLDE VERSION (FM 3-0) A symbol used on maps and displays to regulate forces and warfighting functions. Graphic control measures are always prescriptive. They include symbols for boundaries, fire support coordination measures, some airspace control measures, air defense areas, and minefields. Commanders establish them to regulate maneuver, movement, airspace use, fires, and other aspects of operations. In general, all graphic control measures should relate to easily identifiable natural or man-made terrain features.
